Release notes - October 2026.22
List of release notes from October 28, 2026
Our team has focused on delivering a range of platform enhancements over the last two weeks. In this update, you’ll find a clear overview of the latest feature additions, changes, and resolved issues.
Pages
New features
1. Edit existing pages with Genius Chat
Ask Genius to change a page that's already there. It builds the change as a proposal, shows a preview on the canvas, and only applies it once you accept the plan. This also works for existing actions.
-
Value: You can refine pages by chatting instead of rebuilding them by hand.
-
Impact: Everyone using Genius Chat.
2. Genius sets up login, authentication profiles and configurations
Genius notices when an app has no user login yet and can add one, with login pages and an authentication profile. Management pages go behind the login and public pages stay public. Base URLs and API keys for external services are stored in a configuration and are never hardcoded.
-
Value: Secured apps with working logins, without manual setup.
-
Impact: Everyone using Genius Chat to build or change apps.
3. Pages that show live data from an external API
Genius can connect a page to an external API through an action. The page shows the action's live result, typed so the fields can be used directly in components.
-
Value: Pages built on external data straight from the chat.
-
Impact: Genius-generated pages and actions.
4. Page folders in the quick menu
The pages quick menu now shows your page folders and layouts. You can drag pages between folders, and double-clicking the pages icon opens the Pages overview.
-
Value: Faster navigation in apps with many pages.
-
Impact: All apps.
5. Current page in display logic
Display logic can now check which page is open, on pages, partials and layouts.
-
Value: Show or hide things in a shared layout or partial depending on the page.
-
Impact: All apps.
Improvements
-
Faster proposals: Genius designs proposals faster and shows what it's thinking while it works.
-
Plans are checked before they're applied: Genius checks a plan before applying it and fixes anything that would be rejected, so fewer plans fail halfway.
-
Genius speaks your language: Genius replies in the language of the conversation, also to short answers.
-
Rich text on Genius pages: Text components on Genius pages support lists, bold, italic and paragraphs, with a rich text editor in the page builder.
-
Homepage redirect: Compiled apps now redirect / to the application's homepage.
-
Faster loading for large apps: Large applications now load in seconds.
- Date and time formats: The date-time and time format pickers now include formats with seconds.
Bug fixes
-
Lost connection: A Genius run that loses its connection now ends as failed instead of waiting forever.
-
Add to plan: Clicking "Add to plan" sometimes did nothing. It works again.
-
File uploads and images: Genius now generates file uploads with all their properties, and image properties can be selected.
Up next
1. New page builder
A rebuilt page builder that looks and works like the current one, with new things on top: quick insert (Cmd/Ctrl+K), copy and paste of components across pages and browser tabs, keyboard shortcuts, live Genius generation inline on the canvas, and an Ask Genius bubble on the selected component. It will first be available for apps built only with native components.
-
Value: Faster page building and a modern base for new page features.
-
Impact: Page builders, starting with React 19 apps.
- Timeframe: November '26
2. Betty Genius: File upload in Chat
Add files to your Genius Chat message, for example a screenshot, a design or a document with requirements, so Genius can use it while building.
-
Value: Show Genius what you mean instead of describing it.
-
Impact: Everyone using Genius Chat
- Timeframe: November '26
3. Create a single page with Genius Chat
The create single page screen moves to Genius Chat, so new pages are made the same way as the rest of your app.
-
Value: One way of working with Genius, with proposals and preview for new pages too.
-
Impact: Everyone creating pages.
-
Timeframe: November '26
4. Betty Genius: More page types and UI patterns
Genius gets better at pages beyond a single CRUD page: more UI patterns, a new Metrics pattern for dashboards and KPIs, and fixes for patterns that were generated but didn't work yet, like a recent items list.
-
Value: More variety in generated pages, and pages that work straight away.
-
Impact: Genius-generated pages.
- Timeframe: November '26
5. Betty Genius: Smarter conversations and your own instructions
Genius gets better at the conversation itself, and you'll be able to see and adjust the instructions it generates with, to fit your needs.
-
Value: Genius that works the way your team builds.
-
Impact: Everyone using Genius Chat.
- Timeframe: November '26
6. Betty Genius: Themes and consistent pages
Genius can create and edit your app's theme values, and pages generated across your app follow a more consistent structure. After that, the theme from your organization in My Betty Blocks will be enforced in page generation and edits.
-
Value: Generated apps that look like your brand and like one app.
-
Impact: Genius-generated apps.
-
Timeframe: December '26
7. Authentication profiles on page folders
Pages will inherit authentication settings from their folder.
-
Timeframe: TBD
Actions
New features
1. Draft label for actions
Actions that still have blank steps now show a “Draft” label (“Concept” in Dutch).
- Value: See at a glance which actions won’t compile yet and how many steps still need to be filled in.
- Impact: The label appears in the actions quick menu, the actions overview and at the top of the action builder. Hover over it for details. It disappears as soon as you fill in the last blank step, with no reload needed. While Genius is generating an action, you see “Generating” instead.
2. Redesigned action variable modal
The modal for creating and editing action variables now looks and works like the variable modal in Pages.
- Value: Variables work the same way across the IDE. The layout is also clearer: the variable kind picker sits at the top, the model selector sits next to the name, and errors show under each field.
- Impact: You’ll see the new modal in the action builder when you create or edit a variable. Saving, validation and deleting work as before.
Bug fixes
-
Missing connector lines: The lines between steps now always show when you open an action. Before, they sometimes only appeared after a reload.
-
Oversized pop-ups: Selectors such as the authentication profile and folder browsers now fit their content. Before, they always filled 70% of the screen.
- Actions that wouldn’t open: Some actions no longer fail to load with “Oops! Something went wrong while loading your action.
- Required settings left empty: Genius now fills in every required step setting, for example the HTTP step’s “Response code as”. Generation no longer stops with an error because of a missing setting.
- Actions that failed to generate: Genius can now generate actions it couldn’t create before, including actions without a schema model.
Up next
1. New Actions Generator
This is a new way for Genius to build actions. The AI fills in a fixed form, and Betty Blocks turns that form into the action. Genius can only use the data models, fields and list values that exist in your app. The generator covers create, fetch one, fetch many (with filter, sort and limit), update, delete and if/else conditions.
- Value: Action generation will be faster and more predictable, with fewer broken or half-built actions.
- Impact: Nothing changes yet. The current way of generating actions stays the default until the new generator is released.
- Timeframe: We’re validating it now. We’ll share a release date later.
2. Pages and actions that fit together
When Genius builds pages and actions together, each action will declare the inputs it expects.
- Value: Generated forms and delete buttons will always send the inputs their action needs, so you won’t get actions with a missing input.
- Impact: Pages and actions that Genius builds together.
- Timeframe: To be decided.
Wasm Actions
New features
1. Fast bulk data changes in Wasm Actions
Wasm Actions can now create, update and delete many records at once, and do it much faster.
- Value: In our tests, inserting 1,000 records went from about 30 seconds to under a second. Mass mutate logic you already have in JavaScript also works in Wasm components.
- Impact: Create, Update, Delete and CRUD steps in Wasm actions use this automatically. If you build your own Wasm functions, you can use the new data-api resource to read and write your app’s data. For limits and details, see Mass Mutate step.
2. Pick the “Unique by” property in the Upsert step
You can now select the “Unique by” property from the model you chose in the Upsert step.
- Value: Setting up create-or-update logic is easier, and you won’t mistype property names because you no longer type them yourself.
- Impact: You’ll find the selector in the Upsert step settings in Wasm actions.
Improvements and fixes
- “Action could not be found”: Wasm actions no longer fail at random with this error, and new Wasm actions can be found and run right away.
- “No backend available” after a merge: Actions no longer return this error after you merge.
- “Max queue size of 5 reached”: Wasm actions no longer fail with this error under heavy load, such as bulk runs.
- Create step on large payloads: Wasm actions no longer hang when a Create step sends more than 4 KB of data.
- Related records: Wasm actions that read related records, for example an invoice’s debtor in an Expression step, no longer fail with “Error from wasmcloud”.
- Create or Update Record: This step now updates the matching record if one exists and only creates a new record when nothing matches. Before, it always created a new record.
- Native step settings: The settings now work correctly for these steps: Add variable to array, Init array, Reassign variable, HTTP, Send mail, Expression, Parse JSON, Stringify JSON, Create object, Log and Format endpoint result. Steps can also output to a schema model.
- Step updates: New versions of Wasm steps are now picked up more reliably
Up next
1. Call private Wasm sub-actions from JavaScript actions
JavaScript actions will be able to call Wasm sub-actions without making them public.
- Value: Combine JavaScript and Wasm actions without exposing your sub-actions.
- Impact: Sub-action steps in JavaScript actions.
- Timeframe: To be decided.
AI agents
New features
1. AI agents public release
AI agents are now available to all customers.
- Value: Build AI agents natively in Betty Blocks and use them in your actions.
- Impact:
- Read the announcement: AI agents, now native in Betty Blocks
- View the documentation: AI agents
2. AI agent native function
The AI agent is now a native function.
- Value: Add an AI agent to your actions like any other native step.
- Impact: It runs faster and more reliably than a custom function.
3. Tools for AI agents
AI agents can now use tools, including MCP tools from your application.
- Value: Your agents can take real actions in your app, not just answer questions.
- Impact: When you configure an AI agent in the IDE, choose a tools option and select an MCP folder from your application. The available MCP tools are listed for you, and the agent’s tools show on the canvas.
4. More AI providers
AI agents now run on OpenAI, Google, Mistral and Anthropic models.
- Value: Choose the provider that fits your use case, budget and data requirements.
- Impact: Tool use now also works in the Anthropic step.
5. Dynamic values in prompts
You can now insert dynamic values into system and user prompts.
- Value: Build prompts from your own data, such as names or record fields.
- Impact: One prompt works for many cases, so you need fewer prompts.
Data API and security
Improvements and fixes
- Misleading log warnings: The Data API no longer suggests indexing the
idproperty of hidden list models. You couldn’t change that property anyway. - Security updates: We fixed known vulnerabilities in the Data API, the data compiler and the Actions JS service. We also moved the actions compiler to a more secure base image. These were preventive updates, and nothing had been exploited.
My Betty Blocks
Up next
1. Easier authentication for the API catalog
- Value: You’ll be able to set up authentication for the API catalog while you connect to an API.
- Impact: Connecting to external APIs will be faster and take less manual setup.
- Timeframe: November '26
2. Italian and German in My Betty Blocks
- Value: My Betty Blocks will be available in Italian and German.
- Impact: More users can work in their own language.
- Timeframe: November '26
