Release notes - October 2026.21

List of release notes from October 14, 2026

Our team has focused on delivering a range of platform enhancements over the last two weeks. In this update, you’ll find a clear overview of the latest feature additions, changes, and resolved issues.

Pages

New features

1. Page folders in the Pages overview
Pages can now be grouped into folders, the same way as in the Actions overview, which makes pages easier to find in larger apps.

  • Value: Less scrolling and searching through long page lists.

  • Impact: All apps. Folders don’t pass authentication profiles on to their pages yet (see Up next).

2. Genius shows what your next message is about
Genius Chat composer now shows chips for the context your next message will be sent with: the open page, data model, action, agent or MCP server, plus the selected component, property or step. Click a chip to mute it.

  • Value: You can see and change what Genius is working on before you send.

  • Impact: Everyone using Genius Chat.

3. Detail pages driven by the URL
Ask Genius for something like “a detail page for items where the id comes from the URL”. It now creates the page input variable and sets up the record filter for you.

  • Value: Working detail pages straight away, with no manual filter setup.

  • Impact: Genius-generated detail pages.

Improvements & fixes

Bug fix: Large plans (a full business app with many models, pages and actions) no longer stop after the actions step. The 'Add to plan' button now shows up again.

Improvement: Genius only edits Genius pages, Genius Chat can’t change classic pages that were built without AI. This protects pages you built by hand.

Improvement: Plan preview: Clicking 'Add to plan' closes any open page, action or layout details pane. App Blueprint now opens without the build plan preview unless you open it from the chat’s preview button.

Improvement: Newer AI models: Genius page and action generation now runs on Claude Opus 5.5, and the chat runs on Claude Sonnet 5.5.

Up next

1. New page builder

A rebuilt page builder that looks and works like the current one, with new things on top: quick insert (Cmd/Ctrl+K), copy and paste of components across pages and browser tabs, keyboard shortcuts (delete, duplicate, rename, move up and down), and collapse or expand all in the component tree. It will first be available for apps built only with native components.

  • Value: Faster page building and a modern base for new page features.

  • Impact: Page builders, starting with React 19 apps

  • Timeframe: TBD

2. Authentication profiles on page folders

Pages will inherit authentication settings from their folder.

  • Timeframe: TBD

3. Betty Genius: New proposal agent

Proposals first: You review the change before anything is built. Ask for adjustments and Genius revises the proposal instead of starting over.

Application patterns: One-page CRUD, forms, table columns, login, related records and more. A change lands everywhere it belongs; for example, a new field is added to the data model, forms, actions and table.

Authentication profiles: Genius notices when an app has no user login yet and asks before adding one. Management pages go behind the login and public pages stay public.

Configurations: Base URLs and encrypted API keys for external services are stored in a configuration and never hardcoded.

MCP servers: Turn your app into a tool for AI assistants like Claude, secured with its own API key.

Precise answers: Genius asks when a request is unclear, and tells you when something can’t be done.

  • Value: More complete, better-structured apps with fewer surprises.
  • Impact: Everyone using Genius Chat to build or change apps.

  • Timeframe: October 2026

Actions

New features

1. AI Agent workflows

  • Value: You can now build a dedicated AI Agent workflow and run it as a step in your functions.

  • Impact:

    • A new AI Agent workflow type is available when creating workflows.
    • AI Agent steps are compiled with the rest of your function, so they run like any other step.
    • AI is easier to add to existing business logic.

2. AI provider settings

  • Value: You can manage your company's AI provider API key and default model in one place.

  • Impact:

    • Update the provider API key and default model at company level.
    • Pick an AI provider directly in action functions.
    • Teams can switch models without changing each workflow.

3. Quick navigation for AI Agents

  • Value: You can jump straight to your AI Agents from the builder.

  • Impact:

    • Fewer clicks to find and open an agent.
    • Faster editing when you work with several agents.

4. Add your own external software

  • Value: You can now add external software that is not on the pre-defined list.

  • Impact:

    • Describe your real tool landscape, not just the common tools.
    • Better context for planning and requirements.

5. Build plan starts from your Solutioneer case

  • Value: When you create an application from Betty Solutioneer and open it, Betty Genius now starts a build plan based on your Solutioneer outcome. Before, you had to start the build plan yourself.
  • Impact:
    • No manual step between your business case and your first build plan.
    • Your app starts from what you defined in Solutioneer.

Improvements and fixes

  • Improvement: Clearer compile errors. Sometimes a collection or record variable has no data model. In that case, the error message now names the variable and the action, so you know what to fix.
  • Improvement: Shared WIT packages compile reliably. Some Wasm components use records or types from a shared WIT package. These components now compile, whether they use the same package version or different ones.
  • Improvement: Fewer WIT version errors. Version numbers on WIT types are now handled consistently. This prevents compile errors caused by mismatched versions.
  • Bug fix: Moving steps. If a step has no settings, dragging it around the canvas no longer marks it as draft.

Up next

1. Tools for AI Agents

  • Value: Your AI Agents will be able to use tools, including MCP tools from your application.

  • Impact: Pick tools in the IDE, see them on the canvas, and select an MCP folder from your app. Agents can then take real actions, not just answer questions.

  • Timeframe: October 2026

2. Dynamic prompts

  • Value: You will be able to insert live data into system and user prompts.

  • Impact: Prompts adapt to each request. This gives more relevant, personal agent answers.

  • Timeframe: October 2026

3. More AI model providers

  • Value: AI Agents will run on OpenAI, Google and Mistral models.

  • Impact: Choose the model that fits your needs, cost and compliance rules.

  • Timeframe: November 2026

Wasm Actions x Genius AI

New features

Generate CRUD and integration actions
You can now describe an action to Genius in a prompt. Genius then creates one of these:

  • CRUD actions that create, read, update or delete records
  • Integration actions that call an API over HTTP

The details:

  • Value: Describe common data and integration logic in plain language and get a ready-made action. You don’t have to build every step by hand.
  • Impact: In a Genius Chat, describe the action you need, add it to your build plan and click Apply. Genius doesn’t generate custom action steps yet.

Collapsible side panel in the action canvas

The side panel with action functions can now slide in and out, and the header icon and title are centred.

  • Value: More room to work on large actions without losing quick access to action functions.
  • Impact: Available in the action canvas in the IDE.

Improvements and fixes

  • Improvement: More reliable Wasm actions. Infrastructure updates make Wasm actions run more reliably.
  • Bug fix: Actions stuck on “generating”. Generation now stops after a set time if it stops making progress. Before, an action could stay on “generating” for hours. A related page error is also fixed: a Run action interaction pointed to an action input variable that didn’t exist.
  • Bug fix: Updated actions running an old version. Updated actions now always run their latest version. This also fixes the occasional “action not found” error.
  • Bug fix: Filtering on id. Some Wasm actions filter on id, for example Add note. These actions no longer fail with a 400 “invalid type” error when you pass a valid ID.
  • Improvement: Loop lanes fit their content. The loop lane now wraps around empty nested loops and empty condition outcomes, so grouped steps read as one block.

  • Bug fix: Spaces in value mapping fields. Spaces can be typed again in the value mapping input fields of action steps such as Create Record, Update Record, Expression and Log Message.

  • Bug fix: Correct operators for Time properties. Filters on Time properties in action variables now show time operators (before, after, equals) instead of text operators.

Up next

1. Improving action generation quality and speed

  • Value: Faster response times and more reliable action generations with Genius AI, minimizing the need for manual corrections.
  • Impact: All users generating or editing actions with Genius in the IDE.
  • Timeframe: Coming weeks.

2. Clear status for generated actions
The IDE will always show whether an action generation finished or failed, just as it already does for pages.

  • Value: No more “generating” status that never goes away.
  • Impact: You’ll see the correct action status in the IDE after you apply a Genius build plan.
  • Timeframe: In progress.

Block Store & Wasm functions

New features

Wasm functions in the Block Store
Block Store now lists Wasm components next to JavaScript steps. You can install ready-made Wasm functions instead of building them yourself.

  • Value: Reuse verified Wasm blocks across your apps and save build time. Switching to Wasm actions is now easier too.
  • Impact: In MyBB’s Block Store, Functions is now Action steps and Datasources is now Data sources. A new Type filter lets you show JavaScript steps, Wasm steps or All. Each block lists its versions and functions, has a link to its documentation on GitHub, and can have a description with formatting and images. In the IDE, the function modal shows:
    • the block’s version
    • the block it belongs to
    • whether it’s verified
    • a link to the block in the Block Store
    • buttons to update or uninstall it

Improvements and fixes

  • Bug fix: Wasm upload description. The description field in the Wasm upload flow now has the correct character limit.

Education

New

Registration request for Academy

A new flow for business users without a Betty Blocks account yet. Request access to Academy and building tools through a form right inside Academy.

Updated

1. Mass Mutate step

We added the known limitations of the Mass Mutate step, along with other information to check before you use it. This tells you what to expect before you change many records in one go.

2. How to create MCP servers

The article now explains how to design your actions so they work well as tools, how to connect your AI client, and how roles, permissions and privacy work with MCP servers.
