  • What importing is
  • How to enable the Import feature
  • What the import feature is used for

Betty Blocks allows you to transfer data to an application with its import feature. This feature can be used on almost any Grid, as long as this is allowed on the Model, and on the user roles. This feature is turned off by default but can be enabled on every model.

Imports are most frequently used to transfer data from one application to another. This can be done on a single Grid in the Back Office. Note that before you can start doing an import this first has to be enabled in the model. This can be done within the settings of that model in the Data Model.

Before you can make an import, you'll need a file containing the data. The Betty Blocks Import feature accepts two file types, which are Excel and CSV. These files can easily be uploaded to the application within the Import modal.

The importing can begin after choosing a file containing data from your system. The values of the file must be mapped to the properties of the model. This has to be done manually. After choosing the right property for the corresponding value, set optional deduplication and updating options. These settings are called an import definition and can be saved and re-used for other imports which makes future imports go a lot faster.

You can also include an import in automated processes. By selecting the Import event in an Action, you can use the Import definitions from you grids. Instead of manually choosing a file, a file property is used as a source instead. How to use an Import and how to create an Import event can be found in this article: HowTo use the Import function
