Creating keys for assigning terms in multiple languages

When working with translations, you also need to define keys for individual terms that you connect to text displayed in your application.


When you are using the Translation feature, you first create a set of keys. These keys act as the reference for the individual terms that you use in your application. As shown, when you open the Translations feature, the key fields used in Translations are empty. The following example explains how you add keys based on using a code ELn…ELnn.

1. In the Key field, fill in the names that you want to assign for keys. You can apply a short code such as ELn to ELnn where n ensures that the key is unique. Press Enter and the row containing the newly defined key is displayed.

2. Click the Add (+) button or use the short key to add a new line to assign additional keys.

You can also use Shift / Return to add new keys.

3. You can edit keys by click on an individual row by clicking on the row and editing the information.

4. You can also use the Import / Export file utility to upload or download a .csv file containing a list of keys and related terms and different translations.

Tip! You can also Import a set of keys that you have predefined for use in your application. In this way, you can ensure that names are applied consistently. To do this, export a file to act as a template, add keys to the file, and then import using the import translations feature.
