After reading this article you will know:

  • What exporting is
  • How to create an exportdefinition
  • The options when exporting

BettyBlocks has its own export function inside the application. This export function is active on every view. It enables you to export your data from a view to an Excel or CSV file in a few clicks.

Export definitions

You will find a button in the upper right corner. Compose export will be visible when pressed.

When clicked the export composer will pop up.

In the composer you will see all properties of your model and an export definition. The default properties in the definition are the ones that are present in your view.

You can add properties from the list in the left by clicking them. If you want to remove properties from the definition you can hover over them and a red removal button will be shown.

You can change the name of the fields in your export definition by clicking the current name (This will change the names of the columns in your export).

Other options:

  • File name
This name will be given to the file that you can download when the export is ready.
  • File type
You can pick between an Excel(XLSX) and CSV file type.
  • Group records
This groups records with relations to only be outputted once into the export, records with more than 1 relation will only have 1 relation in the export. This can be handy if you need to have unique values in the export table.
  • Include headers
Include the column names, set in the export definition, in the export table.
  • Quote values
By default values are put between quotes ("value") when exporting. If you uncheck this option values will be exported without quotes.
  • Export name
The created export-definition can be later reused and found under this name.

You can choose to Export the definition directly or to save the definition to use it again later and then export the data.

After starting the export a notification will popup when the export is ready for download.

You can find the export file in the tab downloads in the bottom left corner of the application.

If you saved the definition, next time you can start the export for this definition directly by clicking this definition in the export menu in the top right of the application.
